Manny Ramirez Retires From MLB
Manny Ramirez Retires From MLB
MLB has just announced the retirement of Manny Ramirez, effective immediately.
Reading between the lines, it would seem that perhaps Manny had another positive test for a banned substance, which I believe would result in a 1-year suspension as a repeat offender.
I think there's no doubt that he has Hall of Fame numbers--but does this affect his chances of getting elected?
Tweets coming in from multiple sources; I'll use this one by Jerry Crasnick. Supposedly there was a problem with MLB's drug rules, and so he chose retirement.
Listening to the Boston broadcasters, they claim Manny would be eligible for a 100-game suspension if he were caught again using steroids. That would make the decision easier.
The Dodgers still owe Manny $15M in deferred salary through 2013.
